Buzzz Reclaims the #1 Spot While Envy Crashes the Top 10 in the May 2, 2025 Golf Disc Rankings

If the Buzzz were a band, it just dropped its greatest hits vinyl and every player’s backhand is singing along. This week, after a bit of mid-chart loitering, the Discraft Buzzz has swarmed its way from #3 back to the #1 spot. Why now? Well, there’s a pattern here: as the spring winds ease up, players start reaching for reliability and feel over sheer power. And few discs scratch that itch better than the Buzzz.

Right behind it, disc golf’s favorite honey trap — the Axiom Hex — cools off slightly into second place. But don’t cry for the Hex. It’s still clinging to the podium and clearly isn’t going down without twitching a flight plate.

Speaking of twists, the Axiom Envy finally punched its ticket into the Top 10 for the first time ever, siding up at #10 after a long and faithful climb. A disc that’s as confident off the tee as it is in the circle, the Envy’s appeal lies in being what I’d call “Goldilocks stable.” Savvy enough for pros, forgiving enough for your cousin who only throws twice a year. This rise feels less like a fluke and more like an inevitability you’ve been ignoring. Until now.

Further up the stack, last week’s silent threat, the Destroyer, bulldozed its way up four more spots to #3. Some credit goes to offseason arms finally heating up. But also, this is the Destroyer. It’s got that momentum-of-history feel — the kind of disc that’s iconic for a reason and continues to reward loyalty with on-course mayhem.

Then there’s the Crave, sliding up six spots to #4. Axiom, clearly still on a heater. Could it be the TikTok forehand frenzy reigniting interest in understable control? Maybe. Or maybe we’re just at the start of another MVP family wave — one powered less by marketing and more by throwers finally realizing these discs fly so straight it feels slightly unfair.

And for the comeback crowd, mark this one: the Leopard3 staged a quiet reappearance at #26 after seven weeks in the rankings wilderness. A loyal woods companion rediscovered? Either way, it’s good to see some old friends get a second wind.

As the midweeks warm and plastic keeps flying, next Friday could shake even more limbs off the ranking tree. Will the Envy climb again? Will the Buzzz hold the hive? Or will a new face crash the chart like a surprise doubles partner?
