Why the Axiom Hex Is Suddenly Everywhere (and What That Says About Our Bags)

Top 5 Disc Golf Discs Monday January 19, 2026

The headline act this week is gloriously undramatic. Based on DiscList weekly sales data for Jan 19, 2026, the Axiom Hex has climbed from #9 to #1, politely elbowing aside louder, pointier things and taking the crown with the quiet confidence of someone who knows the menu better than you do.

Midranges do not normally win popularity contests. They are the sensible shoes of disc golf. Yet here we are. The Hex is stable, forgiving, and just interesting enough to make you feel like you have “touch” rather than a recurring problem with early releases. In January, when footing is sketchy and optimism is seasonal, people gravitate towards discs that reduce the number of decisions, and therefore reduce the number of regrets.

Then there’s the Pixel, which has performed the sort of vertical take-off usually reserved for novelty internet stocks. It’s rocketed from #35 to #3. That is not a gentle drift upwards, it’s a proper stampede. My hunch is that the Pixel is benefiting from two very human impulses at once: we want quick wins, and we want small, repeatable rituals. Putting practice is the one part of disc golf where you can feel improvement in a week, rather than in a decade. A stable putter with a clean flight is basically a permission slip to believe in yourself again.

The rest of the top end has its own little soap opera. The MVP Trail nudges up to #2 from #4, which reads like a lot of players are shopping for distance without signing up for chaos. The MVP Glitch leaps from #26 to #4, continuing its career as the disc you buy “for fun” and then, irritably, start using in scoring rounds because it keeps working. Fun is a wonderful disguise for effective.

Not everyone is having a good week. The Axiom Crave, previously #1, drops to #8. That’s not a demise, it’s a reminder. Even beloved fairways suffer when a shinier, simpler narrative walks into the room. Meanwhile, the Innova Destroyer slips from #3 to #5. It will survive. It always does. The Destroyer is less a disc and more a long-term relationship with occasional arguments.

My favourite signals, though, are the “hello again” moments. The Leopard 3 has stormed from #87 to #7, and the Mako 3 has climbed from #37 to #10. This is the comforting return of straight, controllable classics when conditions punish bravado. It’s also a hint that plenty of us are choosing to play smarter, not harder. A Leopard 3 doesn’t flatter you, it simply tells the truth early enough to fix it on the next hole.

Lower down but still worth clocking, Millennium have had a strong showing: the Zodiac jumps from #38 to #11 and the Mars Rover from #33 to #12. That smells like curiosity purchases paying off, the sort of “I’ll try something different” energy that often follows a few too many rounds of arguing with the same old driver.

Finally, two new faces barge straight into the conversation: the Innova Stingray debuts at #13 and the Prodigy X4 arrives at #15. Understable and workable is back in fashion, which is another way of saying people are buying discs that make them look clever without needing maximum effort.

Next Friday, we’ll see if the Hex can hold onto #1, or if the crowd gets bored and goes hunting for the next quick fix. Disc golfers are loyal, right up until they’re not.
